From the CEO

Fall 2013

As health-care providers, in order to care for patients we must also take care of ourselves. This is especially important during the annual influenza season which is now upon us. It is of the utmost importance that staff and physicians receive their influenza vaccination to protect themselves – as well as our patients – from influenza.

I am pleased that LHSC has taken the important step this year of strengthening its influenza immunization policy. This policy mandates that staff receive a flu shot, and those who have not—including family and visitors—will be required to wear a mask in patient care areas when the influenza virus is widely circulating in our community. This policy protects our staff, and most importantly protects our patients.

I invite you to read more about how LHSC is tackling this year’s flu season, and some of the innovative programs we have in place to ensure we continue providing exceptional experiences for our patients.

As always, I hope you enjoy your time “inside.”
