From the CEO

Winter 2013

The end of January marked the end of all patient care services at South Street Hospital – an iconic facility that has touched the lives of Londoners for over a century, and contributed to several world-first medical breakthroughs. Many of us who have enjoyed health-care careers in London spent some long hours at South Street, and we carry with us both fond memories and an enduring sense of pride. After 138 years, the building may close, but the spirit of innovation at LHSC lives on, supported by some of the most modern medical facilities in Canada and a highly dedicated and compassionate health-care team.

This month the world comes to Canada’s London with the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® and London Health Sciences Centre will be there. Our staff, including those from the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic, will be part of the host medical team during the event. We are proud to have treated elite athletes, including world champion skater and local hero, Tessa Virtue.

In this edition of inside, we hope you will see how we continue to build on our legacy of care at LHSC, through some of the exceptional experiences of our patients and some incredible achievements that we are proud to share.

I hope you enjoy your time “inside.”
